hey guys im helping a friend with build a gaming computer. he wants it at about $1500 but im have trouble trying not to sacrifice performance. whats your guys inputs and specs below.

For gaming you don't need an i7. Get the i5 3570k instead and put the extra $100 into getting a 680 or a 7970 GHz ed.

Norlag speaks truth. Also, ditch the expensive cooler and go with the Hyper 212 Evo. It's much cheaper and performs as well.

Totally agree with Norlag.

Also, 16GB of RAM isn't really necessary and change power supply to a well-rated Corsair or Seasonic. Motherboard is a bit overkill, if going for a simple overclock all he needs is the ASUS P8Z77-V or ASRock Extreme4.

The Hyper 212 EVO is a great cooler and does cost much less but the Zalman is a great choice.
It looks awesome and it's whisper quiet, not to mention it does an excellent job at cooling (a bit of a pain in the a$$ to install though).
