so all i would need is a raid controller to run raid. would i need a hard drive that is compatible with raid?

repeat after me, we are all individuals!

the hard drives dont need to be designed with raid in mind, but you should make sure they are the same size, same make and model if you can.

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

I would also keep in mind what level you want to run. Either way if you choose 1 or 0 I would go with a 7200RPM hard drive. They way I do it when I need more space is I buy 7200RPM drives so that once I upgrade I can always use the drives I replace for something else.
