This is off topic but that dont matter. Tomorrow at 10 a.m. eastern there
will be a moment of silence for those lost in Hurricane Katrina. Also
remember to say prayer for the survivors in LA, MS, AL, and FL they got
their asseskicked by this storm and lost everything. Donate to a charity and
help these people out. They lost their communities, livelyhood, families,
and homes. They need our help. Thanks.

So why is it that I should donate money to the people (and I DO feel sorry for them!) in
the world's most powerful nation?
I don't even know what LA MS AL or FL stands for!
There are more countries in the world you know, and many of them need more help (!?) than
the US.

Arhrhrrrrr .... never mind ...

I guess you subscribe to the "help your lesser man" theory, not the more
common "help your fellow man" theory.

Yet I bet you won't help them, either.

Actually, he isn't (read the headers) but he does have a point, the US
doesn't need cash from outside to deal with this disaster. However, I
do hope that other nations have offered their support in the form of
specialist rescue teams and equipment.

Not an american either, but when ever there is a disaster in the world
the lion's share of aid comes from the u.s. So when they have a major
disaster of their own they are entitled to sympathy at the minimum and
material aid is just the humanitarian thing to do. By helping others
they made themselves worthy of help. The letters are demarkations of
zones of local control called states, they have around fifty of them.

A good point and I do so hate to agree with you on anything. A quick
check though on the net has revealed offers of support or even sympathy
from few nations. Why are brittish carriers laden with aircraft not
steaming that way now? At least here the catholic aid society has sent
money for the purchase of food and water to help the american red cross.
Although there is little we can do my nation, both it's people and it's
gornement has stood up and said 'how can we help?' and though it may be
little we can do, and their need for it even less, what we can do we
will do. When one considers the vast amount of aid that nation has
expended in countless other disasters in nations not their own I would
think at the very least they have earned our sympathy.

perhaps they are too busy to ask, if you have it offer it and lert them
decide if they need it, more efficient that way.

It was a joke made on the arrogance of the poster. He seems quick to assume
that American don't care/know about the rest of the world but has no concept
about the make up of the United States. Get it? UNITED STATES. There are 50
of them. Right now, 3 of them are dealing with a serious natural disaster.

hmmm. "news.tele.dk" Hmm, German? I should have expected that.

Per the news last night, 20 nations have offered support. To those
nations/individuals who have offered support, Thank you.

Right now, the entire world is seeing the best and worst of us. Live, on the
scene coverage is showing rescue missions and looting side by side.

The UN is a dictators' club. American diplomats love the attention they get
there.

Representative Ron Paul (R, TX) has made numerous attempts in the last
couple of years to introduce legislation to withdraw funding and membership
from the UN, and I've requested my "representatives" support such measures.
If you'd like to follow suit, get on the mailing lists here:

While my Congressional "representatives" do a piss-poor job of representing
me, these organizations do a pretty good job. I have no problem sending
them to Washington to keep my "reps" honest.

You obviously don't know that the US is the largest "giver" in the
world. Every Nation around the world that needs help and monetary
assistance gets it from us. We, the US, are the biggest charity to the
world...so get your facts together before you step all over your
"their too good to help" tongue. God Bless the USA and God Bless the
Coastal States in their time of crisis.

My wife told me a joke sometime ago I thought was quite amusing. (She is
from Colombia, and I am from the States) I find some people in the US only
subscribe to "not in my backyard" stand point.

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN.

The only question asked was:
"Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food
shortages in the rest of the world?"

The survey was a huge failure...
* In Africa they didn't know what 'food' meant.
* In India they didn't know what 'honest' meant.
* In Europe they didn't know what 'shortage' meant.
* In China they didn't know what 'opinion' meant.
* In the Middle East they didn't know what 'solution' meant.
* In South America they didn't know what 'please' meant.
* And in the USA they didn't know what 'the rest of the world' meant.

I think this statement is very strange. (I 'gather' you are from Denmark
from all the postings.) Do you realize that the population of Louisiana is
just one million less then that of your own country? Does this scale help
you imagine the problems that these poor people are facing. Not to mention
the other states affected by this storm. God forbid the other three states
you bring up. (of course, know one expects you to know their names. there
are too many areas in the world for any one person to know the whole.) Just
try to be sympatric. These are not Americans, THEY ARE PEOPLE! Sometimes
many Americans forget that fact, also this is something the rest of the
world also forgets. They will not leave the ruins of their houses to drive
away in BMWs to their insurance agents. Some of these men and women may
never recover. From what I remember of high school and college your nation
has a much lower gap between the rich and the poor. So if my memory serves
me correctly. You are not one to talk.

The US helps other countries in thier times of need all the time. Thaliand
last year is a one that is still stuck in my head. Whenever something bad
happens the US is ALWAYS first. But after this disaster you wont see to many
americans wanting to help others hell took even our cloesest allies days to
ask if we wanted some help. Geez. just casue ur the most powerful dont mean
u dont need help once in awhile.
