a few days back after rebooting my CD burner and DVD drives stopped showing up in "My Computer" and in the Device manager they've got yellow circles with exclamation points in them. Under their properties Windows XP says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Of coarse its a major pain in the rear to have both of your drives not working so if anyone knows how I can remedy this problem it'd be greatly appreciated.
BTW the drives work fine in Windows 98se and Win2kpro (I've got a triple boot system with multiple hard drives)

Maybe your system registry is corrupted.

Try running Scanreg.exe to see if that solves the problem. If that doesn't work then maybe you have to restore your registry by typing scanreg /restore from the command prompt.

You can also try removing the devices and then reinstalling them.
