PhysX vs no physX

doesn't look promising for high end games like metro and borderlands 2?

they're not meant to be used as a main rendering graphics card.. they're only to be used in a different pci xpress slot for particle rendering.. they take the stress off the CPU since all PhysX is, is extra particle rendering. Which means that PhysX CAN work on an radeon card as long as you have a very powerful CPU to handle the extra particles.. or you could just save yourself the trouble and buy yourself one of these cards and use them to turn up the physx to max and get no fps drops

There are very few games that use physx. The big two that come to mind are borderlands 2 and arkham city. In BL2 you can run physx on an amd card, but my 3570k at stock can't handle high physx at 2560x1440. If you play a lot of games that use physx then an nvidia card would be worth it, otherwise get whichever brand offers the better performance for your money.

Mmmm i got the i7 3770 non k, will it run at least medium or high physX? if not i would buy a 3770k with the left over money from the 7970 and just overclock it, also the 7970 is the Double D ghz edition

In borderlands 2 physx seems to only run on 1 or 2 cores on my 3570k. With high physx my cpu usage will be ~50%, but one core is maxed out and I get ~15 fps with a lot of stuff going on. I can't even do medium, but I run at 2560x1440. Maybe you will be able to do it at 1920x1080, but I can't say for sure. If physx is that important get a 670.

but i do tend to get another monitor in the future? so you think a 670 is better for me?

WHY would they buy a 5 year old accelerator card that doesn't even work with modern games anymore.




So keep pushing your card that has no support, no drivers, not made anymore and doesn't even work with any new games. Really?????

This PPU dosent support the current standards that current games demand and support ended after Mirrors Edge had came out. I suggest a cheap GT 430 or a second hand 8800gt as a dedicated physx card. Note that some forceware versions have a bug that bricks any dedicated physx even on a purly Nvidia system.

Yeah well the question is, i have fair amount of PhysX games, but will i atleast play at around 40-50 fps with my current CPU?

I'm not going to get a dedicated old accelerator card which doesn't really do much these days.. so yeah :\

also at 1920x1080 for now, but later on i will get a 3770k and watercooled overclocked.
