Hi,

I recently purchased a set(5 off) of "Bose Style" Satellite speakers,
however, as the cubes are probably high range, how do I set them up
with a Sub and amp without the need to buy the original Bose Sub as
well, I understand that the satellites normally connect directly to
the Sub in a Bose system, therefore there must be crossovers involved,
I guess. I know all my problems would be solved by buying the
originals, but its probably more interesting this way!

Yes, you'll need a crossover, preferably active, as a passive
crossover at Bose's preferred 250-300Hz frequency (those drivers won't
go any lower) is full of compromises.

But as long as you don't want ultimate quality, you could do worse
than one of the commonly available cheapie sub crossovers (in Oz they
come from Jaycar, Rockby, etc) modified for the higher frequency. But
whatever you do, it's a lot safer NOT to parallel the sub outputs of
the crossovers to drive one or 2 sub drivers (the way Bose and some
others do) - maybe use 5 smaller sub drivers in a common box to take
the 5 sub outputs, and avoid having the amplifiers drive each other
(and potentially blow themselves up).

Are there any AV amps which can perform the function of the Crossovers too?

That's not my field, but I would expect some could well include
crossovers. But the catch is, it would be most unlikely to be up
around 275Hz, since AFAIK Bose are the only ones to cross over above
150Hz (normally considered to be the highest useful sub crossover
frequency).
