Compact flash drive has stopped reading cards?

This is a 6 month old desktop computer HP the compact flash drive has stopped reading the cards what would have caused this problem thanks for yor help?

I have had two compact flash card readers fail on me in the last few years. I just figured they were poorly made or worn out (back in the day, I used to wear out CD burners too). I got a new camera that uses SD cards, so I coughed up dough to buy a higher quality USB 3.0 reader. You should be able to get it fixed under warranty I would think.
