Hi everyone,

I'm bulding a budget PC, aimed mainly for music production (CuBase/Ableton)

However i would like to do some gaming in the future too

So far i have got the following:

CPU: AMD A10 3.8 black edition
Mother Board: Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H
Ram: 16gb COrsair Vengeance 1600mhz
HD: 1Tb Barracuda 7200rpm
PSU: 440w

All in so far i have spent around £220, so hopefully my performance versus £££'s is pretty good

So which card can i add in say a few months to improve the gaming capabilities?

The AMD A10 claims to have in-built HD7660 so this i'm guessing will be ok for the time being?

Also what are the overclocking options for the above set-up, will i be happy enough with the standard config or is it easy to get a stable over-clock on the CPU?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

WiLL....

A Stable OC on the A10 BE is always doable - Even overclocking the internal graphics can be a breeze.

The 7660D will suffice for pretty much anything at the moment - at lower settings of course.

For a card that won't be bottle necked by the CPU I would go ahead and recommend a 7770 or 7850 (The 7850 might get bottle necked a little).
The below GPUs will play most games at Med-High settings, and if overclocked the 7850 is a force to be reckoned with.

thanks for the reply,

I have had a look around on the net and the only advice i can find with a quick google search is to pop in something like an amd 6600 series.

But the discussions are all a few months old (3-4months), and i'm not sure the crossfire capabilities will work with anything above a 6*** series AMD card?

Forget the hybrid crossfire configurations, they are sketchy at best and only work with a handful of games. There is a review on TPU or Tomshardware that outlines it as I recall.

AMD A10-6800K APU Average CPU Mark:5103 (WINNER)
AMD Athlon X4 750K Quad Core Average CPU Mark:4352
AMD Athlon X4 760K Quad Core Average CPU Mark:4916

As you can see its worth it to buy an A10 over a 750k or 760k

plus you get free graphics low to mid graphics.
