Is my GPU broken?

Hello, there
I have a http://www.msiwhitebook.com/product_spec.asp?model=ms-163a laptop i used in highschool, it has been inactive 1 year, and i need it for something, so i install win7 (instead of xp), and update driver etc.. it didn't install my grafic card NVIDIA® 8600M-GT 512MB properly, so i found the driver on http://www.geforce.com/drivers..
installed it.. but i still receive error when looking in "device manager" Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). i have tried to reinstall driver again. but same error. it my card broken ?
i can't run any game, and the test program for GPU "Heaven" doesnt work either..

i would think windows7 would support that gpu without a driver, but if its not working for you, try getting the driver from msi instead of right from nvidia.

Try using the drivers direct from MSI.
I tried to go on their website to download it and see if it was different from Nvidia's but it was down for maintenance.
Sometimes laptop makers will tweak their drivers for their specific laptop.

you will have to use the vista 32 one since there is no support for windons 7 on msi for this model http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GX600.html#/?div=Driver&os=Vista%2032
