Ask easy way to connect 2 computers

Hello,
I have 2 computers. xp3 & 2000. Each wired to a modem. How can I access files from either?

I assume that you mean each is connected to a different modem. If so, you have several options; you could use a usb wireless adapter on each along with an inexpensive wireless router. You could add a NIC to each and attach them with an Ethernet cable (if at least one of the NICs is gigabit then you don't need a crossover cable, otherwise you do) or a router.
