Windows 8 sound error

I have a weird problem with sound in windows 8.

Whenever I am trying to watch a video on any browser, there is no sound. Also when I try to run any game, I get an error followed by a message saying this app requires a sound card to run.



I can still hear windows sounds like the error sound, and sound still works in the retro apps.

I already tried to re-install my sound drivers but nothing worked so far. Any help would be much appreciated
