Seperating two cards

So these two 5770s are connected by this strip:
Just wondering if there's any way to take that off and use the cards seperately.
p.s. you have no idea what a pain it is to remove two gpus where the plugs are right there instead of to the side of the gpu...

I cant se the pic at work but I'm assuming thats the crossfire connector so yes its possible to remove it and use the cards individually. You can extend your desktop but will loose eyefinity.
