  1. If you want help, refusing to provide information is not a good first step. What is the make and model of your PSU?

Did you uninstall the previous drivers before insalling new ones? Did you run driver sweeper when you did?

It maybe possible that you are overclocking too much, what brand is your card?
  3. msi 7770
    antec 450watt psu
    i3 3220 3.3ghz
    8gb ram 1333mhz

hmm the msi hd 7770 usually comes pre overclocked.. do you have the program cpu z installed?
  5. Can you be more specific on your PSU? Do you mean the Antec VP-450?

Are you trying to overclock the memory as well, or just the core?

Have you tried bumping the voltage up a small amount prior to attempting the overclock?
  6. ^+1 But also why are you trying to overclock you have a GPU that has its own set of limitations.
  7. the vp450 has a very low amperage on the 12v rail
  8. yes its the antec Antec VP-450 and im trying to overclock the core and the memory clock and no it does not come overclocked and this card can be overclocked very well that is what people are saying and on review sites
  9. Antec VP-450 can runa amd 7850 well arich5 its paired with a 7850 on tomshardware system builder
  10. Yea you may want a stronger PSU if you plan on overclocking. Mainly because you have your 12V power being stretched over 2 rails which may lead to power issues with your overclock there.
  11. I think it's not the PSU issue since topic creator said OC of 1mhz will freeze, I guess some cards have this kind of issue since I've heard that problem elsewhere.
Also to the topic creator, please use punctuations, I almost suffocated myself reading your post.
  12. "by 1" ya i missed that part due to punctuation.
  13. Your PSU is okay. One "rail" is going to the motherboard, and the other to the video card. 18a per "rail" is plenty for that application. Also, I'm 99% sure that PSU just has a single +12v rail with a split output. You almost never see a true split +12v on any PSU under 1000w.
  14. ok this is not about my psu i was just wandering what could be the problom maby i should just call msi

are you saying i should try re wiring the mobo
  16. He is saying to follow the power cable from the power supply I believe.
  17. what would that do i have the 6 pin pluged in all right
  18. Yea If all it does is draw power from a single 6 pin I don't see how you could go wrong there. I'm curious to see where his train of thought was going with his comment.
  19. I'm saying you're fine as is :D. Unless Antec had an anneurysm when designing the VP-450, one +12v output supplies the 24 pin and the 4/8 pin to the motherboard, and the other supplies the 6-pin pci-e connector, so your card has 18a all to itself.
  20. Oh right right! But also he wouldn't be able to connect the 4/8 pin connection to his card anyway the pins wouldn't match up. Computer building now is very plug and play versus plug in pray of the past.
  21. the 18a on the 6-pin is more than you'd ever need to overclock a 7770. Try the steps outlined earlier

    1. reinstall drivers, making sure you get rid of every vestige of old drivers first (get driver sweeper!!!)
    2. give it a pre-overclock voltage bump
    3. make sure the memory is not being overclocked, just the core.
  22. Here's a question for someone more knowledgable than me.

Since the 7770 uses less than 75w 99.9% of the time, will it power up with just the pci-e slot power? If so, it may be possible that the 6 pin on the OP's PSU isn't actually delivering any juice (possibly not fully connected).

    alright ill try that
  24. just put in new 6 pin could this be yhe issue maby a dud
  25. That wasn't a suggestion to try >.<, it was just a hypothetical. I was asking any graphics card guru's that happened by this thread if that was possible. I did not intend for you to do anything regarding the 6 pin yet. The first three things you should try were listed above.

i did all 3, did nothing
  27. The next step would be to try the 7770 in a different machine, and if possible, another video card in your machine.
  28. called msi they said i have the standerd version so i cant oc that much, i got max 1070 core clock, 1180 memory clock, still get some extra fps but cant complain
  29. Ah, well grats on what you were able to squeeze out of it :)
  30. Oh I see well yea take what you can get give nothing back.
