LECTURE: Dave Hill on the European "New-Romantic Movement". This program is
a sequel to the "Sultans of Synth" presented in March 2004. This talk
covers a trend in popular music in Great Britain and Germany of the 1980's.
It features electronic keyboards, clear-sounding electric guitars and
singing. It is the opposite of screaming and distortion of other pop music
of the 1980s. This music has an upbeat, fun, optimistic attitude like the
emotional feel of the pre-drug, pre-hippie era.
