I intend to buy a 17" TFT/LCD monitor

I looking for the best, (for quality & price) and I narrowed down to NEC AND VIEWSONIC,
and it must be a NX (digital) format,
I've used Newegg for the small stuff 'cause I live in LA\CA and if I can forgo the tax by buying elsewhere (out of state) it would be "peachy keen" ( Cool ) Because for a 17" TFT/LCD/NX I've to fork out around $470+.
And are there problems buying a TFT monitor on line,
'cause I've read somewhere a while back, that there could be nightmares,
if down the line there is a problem with pixels and stuff...
Anyone knows about this?
Well I think I've covered most of the angles here, but now I'll need if possible some "pronto" input from you guys.....Thx
