I enabled the Parental Control on the Replay 5504 unit. I changed to a
"blocked" program, it appears for a split second and then you get the
"blocked" screen as normal. However, the rating indicator kept flipping
back and forth between "NR" and a "VSL" rating. Then I couldn't control the
remote anymore to change channels, enter a code, or anything else. Is this
a known problem? I did manage to press EXIT several times and finally it
got me out of there, but once I went back to that channel again it would go
crazy again. It appears the flipping between ratings NR and VSL caused the
Replay to not accept any further remote control.

I've had the EXACT same problem recently, but ONLY recently, say, ther
last two weeks. Wonder if it's a newly introduced software bug rather
than a newly FOUND bug.

i guess you have to find that channel that is sending bad v chip data.
Looks like the Replay chokes on the bad data. No error control in the
Replay!
in the old computer days we used to say GIGO... Garbage In - Garbage out
