I have a 3770k OC'ed to 4.5 GHz, and a Gigabyte GTX 670 slightly overclocked as well. With fully maxed settings at 1080p, I average around 55 fps.

Here's a comparison of the two cards. Yes, I'm aware it isn't the most up to date. I just want to give Smiley a general idea of what to expect.

Perhaps. I don't know much about AMD cards to be honest. Those numbers, along with claims that the 670 can easily be overclocked to 680 levels were what influenced me to buy the 670. You may want to look at more recent testing in order to make your decision. For all I know, newer drivers may have pushed the AMD cards ahead.

get another 7850 and crossfire ? the answer couldnt be anymore simpler . and to those who would say crossfire is not worth it just shut the hell up. for $200 you would get performance matching the 7970 GHZ edition . if that is not an amazing deal i dont know what is.

That would definitely be an option, especially since the 7850 by itself is not a bad card. Its just automatic for me to say go for single card lol, I have no experience with Crossfire or SLI, so I usually dont' recommend it, but it is always a viable option.

As far as waiting goes, I'm not sure when the next series is gonna come out, before summer maybe? don't hold me to that, but that would be up to you, the next one is always approaching. 7970 is a kick ass card, you'll be happy with it, and it'll last you a while.
