Newest driver for 7850

[OS Outlawz]

So I am trying to determine if I have the newest drivers installed for my Radeon HD 7850.


Currently it is Driver Version: 12.100.17.0 This seems like the newest, am I missing anything ?


The AMD website is confusing me with their software suite downloads......

I appreciate it. I did the auto detect and it did not choose that one initially.....

Its okay. I normally choose the driver manually its faster for me with both AMD/NVIDIA.

So I downloaded and installed that driver, rebooted and checked dx diag and it still shows 12.1

thoughts ?

it shouldn't. When you go through Catalyst Control Panel does it show the right version?

Hmm maybe you could uninstall the driver and use drive sweeper and then install the new driver.

Ok so I uninstalled what was my current driver, booted into safe mode and ran driver sweeper. I restarted and installed the driver you linked me to. Says Catalyst version 13.1 but driver packaging 9.0 and so forth. It does mention this under the software suite on AMD'S website a 9.0 number, would this be correct then ?

The display driver is Display Driver ver. 9.012 so that sounds right.

Ok great. It just seemed weird going from 12.1 to a 9.012

yea no there are different versions of each driver.

Display Driver ver. 9.012
OpenCL(tm) Driver ver. 10.0.1084.4
Catalyst Control Center ver. 2012.1219.1520.27485

Still a bit confused by the different drivers. I thought it was all inclusive.

The suite has a number which is the number that people normally associate as the driver. But internally for AMD they label each part of that driver differently so I can understand the confusion but yea they have different revisions for different things.
