7950 competes with GTX 670. It absolutely demolishes a 660Ti. 7870 is closer comparison to a 660Ti.

They are very close generally. Depending on the game, both can edge out the other (usually primarily due to optimizations from partners via "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" (nVidia) or "Gaming Evolved" (AMD)). I'd go with the 7950 myself (assuming same price) even if just for the extra GB of RAM.

^Both those guys are right; the 7950 is slightly better than the 660ti, although it only competes with a 670 if only the 7950 is overclocked. Still, it's a better deal right now than the 660ti, so I'd go with it.

The 7950 is only 10 dollars more expensive so yeah and thanks and would it better with i7 or i5 or it doesn't matter

As usual, the HD7950 gets my vote against the GTX660ti.

I love the smoothness I get (less lag) from Nvidia and extra details by Physx. The 7950 gets better fps in most games but the decision can be price.

Can't go wrong with either choice.

i5 or i7 for gaming? Doesn't matter. Both will perform almost the same.

I didn't see OP asked for any opinions with an i5 or i7...

People will argue back and forth on these cards forever. Do you play games with Physx? If so get the 660ti. If not get the 7950.

Personally I've just gone from a 5870 to a 660ti (oc'd like hell mind you) and am more than happy with it. I was considering the 7950 also but am glad i went with the 660ti now.

Check the OP's second post. He didn't write a question mark but asked a question.

Doesn't matter for gaming. Its more important for CPU intensive tasks like video editing.
