Upgrading my 5850

I have been really happy with my 5850 but now am thinking I would like to upgrade. From what I have read many of the cards in the 7000 series aren't really that much of an upgrade... is that true? If not, what would be a noticable upgrade from the 5850. I would like to to stick with AMD/ATI.

  1. I've been happy too with my 5850 so I bought another one second hand for 50€, maybe you can too if you got motherboard + power supply for it.
  2. You will definitely see a good upgrade from 5xxx to 7xxx or Nvidia's 6xx. Spending around $250 will get you a 7870 or a GTX 660. Around $300 I would get a 7950, though the 660Ti is still considered by many.

  3. You know I felt the same way thought I had a 6850 (which is a little slower than a 5850) so I went with a 7870 xt since it has 2gig of ram and is based off 7950 chip set I haven't tried to OC it but I was able to get the power color model for $236 including shipping and Tax plus it came with Farcry 3 (and sleeping dogs too).
  4. Nice! You were one of the few people that got their hands on the card!
  5. Thx for all your replies!
