I just assembled a system from scratch, but the only thing that has me scratching my head is the fact that the system boots up normally, runs Win98 and all that, but the light for the floppy disk is always on. I have not had the time to try it out, but figured the answer is probably easy enough.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sierra

You have the cable on backwards. Flip it over so the red stripe is on pin 1.

Intel = Ford
AMD = Chevy
Friends don't let friends drive Fords

If its not the backwards problem, the cable itself may be damaged. Failing the guy above's suggestion, try another.

Also floppy drive cables have to be terminated at the drive. He might have his cable plugged in pin 1 to pin 1 but has the end meant for the drive plugged in the mobo.
In other words make sure the last connector on your ribbon cable has a small twist in it (I think it's a 3 conductor twist for pin reversal) plugged into the drive.
