Prepare for the new RAM type...It has been underground construction for 3 years now, and you can expect FBS at 1GHz and .5CL. It is called MDDRAM. Release in June. I am not apart of MD but I know the creaters.

I find that incredibly hard to believe, considering that for a release in June, someone would have to release both a chipset and processor capable of using that much bandwidth. Unless it's a 1-bit datapath, the bandwidth will go completely to waste. Also, if it was as good a kept secret as you claim, then it would not be posted on an online forum right now.
I call BS.

Eh. Let's try to be a bit more fair. MoneyMike never said that it was being released for use in PCs, just that it was being released. It could initially just be released as modules for manufacturers to put into cell phones, game consoles, pagers, or the like. Look at how long DDR SDRAM was available before PCs finally started using it. And RDRAM was used in electronic devices for a long time before PCs took it up. Computers have always been slow on the uptake of new memory technologies because they have to engineer new motherboards and chipsets as well as validate the memory and the chipsets. That takes time.

Plus, we all know that SDRAM is truely ancient. DDR SDRAM and RDRAM, while newer, are still pretty old. I'm sure that by now someone could have come up with something more efficient. (Or at least different.) In and of itself, just an upgrade to magnetic non-volatile RAM would be great for PCs.

Besides, we've all been catching bits and pieces about new memory technologies like ferro-magnetic RAM for quite a long time now. It would be about bloody time that someone finally actually released one of these long-researched products.

So I have no real problems believing in the possability that MoneyMike may be correct that a new memory technology is about to emerge. Especially since it is long over-due.

Are you talking about???

Are you talking about Multibank Dynamic Random Access Memory or are you talking about Magnetic RAM or are you talking about Ferroelectronic RAM???

1.
MDRAM(Multibank DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM chip from MoSys, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, (www.mosys.com), that is available in 256KB increments. It enables embedded applications with fixed memory requirements to have exactly the amount of RAM they need. MDRAM uses an internal bus connected to independent 32KB banks of DRAM, which provides a bandwidth of 666 MBytes/sec. {The Computer Language Company Inc.}

I think Front Side Bus and Cas Latency are only used for measurement in PCs, though I could be wrong.

Hmm. Not sure really. I've never built a cel phone from scratch before. Heh heh. :) I'd imagine though that the same general principles would apply to all devices, wouldn't they? I mean how else do you know how to send data to the RAM?

ER, if any ram can do 1000MHz, the laymans conclusion would be that it can enable an FSB of 1000MHz, though designing a PCB for such speeds would be unreasonabley difficult, and result in an outrageously expensive product. But anyway, someone who knows a little about memory technology (from friends in the industry so he says) would not necessarily know about motherboard design limmitations.
