Weird issue that I am having with the sapphire hd 7770 at certain points within games my computer totally hangs and gives a yellow-green striped screen (covering the whole monitor) and the game's sound looping while the computer gives no response.. I believe that started to happen when I upgraded Catalyst to the latest possible 'recommended' version by downloading the automatic driver finder from support.amd.com

Games were working perfectly before I update the drivers, including Far Cry 3, Skyrim and Assassin's Creed 3, but once I upgraded the drivers I started to notice this problem first with Assassin's Creed 3 where it reaches a certain point and the game crashes at the same time the yellow-green striped screen appears along with game music looping, then I encountered this issue with Skyrim where I reach a certain point specifically at the Nightingale quest where I and two others are inside a huge place looking for Mercer, once I meet the woman and the man after a while the game crashes and the yellow-green striped screen appears with the game music looping..

Regarding what I just referred to previously, could it possibly be the catalyst/driver update? if so.. how to downgrade to the previous version?

P.S.: Before upgrading Catalyst I was using the default drivers that came with the GPU (the one that is included in the installation CD)

Hi - do that 1st, then install latesr drivers from amd website,
also go to device mgr & make sure there's no trace
of previous video etc., see if that helps.

you might have to...

My GPU temperature is variable between 26 Celsius and 40 Celsius, it is not overheated or anything... I figured out it is not the game that crashes, actually my whole PC freezes up, it doesn't really exceed 60, doesn't achieve top heat..

What is the problem I don't get it! :/

Hi - what is the make/model of your psu?

OK - safe to assume it's not the psu, was concerned
that might be it when you said your whole pc freezes.
Are you sure you deleted and swept the old drivers?
If you didn't & downloaded new, then they're might be
a conflict.

Well I don't really know how to completely remove the old/new driver, all I did was uninstall it from the control panel and then install the new drivers, I did the same thing when trying to downgrade to 12.8 (default drivers that came with the GPU) but the problwm still presists.

I did that, it ran well for only 5 mins then my computer froze again with that horizentally striped screen..

I will try again but this time install the default drivers...:
1- Install Driver Sweeper
2- Uninstall GPU drivers from control panel
3- Restart PC, start in safe mode
4- Run Driver Sweeper
5- Analyse and clean AMD drivers
6- Restart PC, start normally
7- Install default drivers

I hope that it works, because if not I guess I will have to send it back before my warranty goes off, and I will buy a nvidia card.., any recommends for a card that delivers same power for the same price? I bought this card for $135

Someone please answer me, my problem still persists and I want to change my GPU to a Nvidia one, suggest one that performs exactly like the sapphire hd 7770 but at the same price range, I can only add $45 to the $135, so thats total $180, what graphic card performs best like the sapphire hd 7770????
