I am holding off buying a graphics card for my new computer because I am hoping it will be better in the long run. So when do you guys think the next generation of graphics cards will be available? I have already heard the first quarter of 2013 so does anyone kind know a more specific date?

no specific dates but for amd most rumor pointing to Q2 release. amd delaying their next gen series (which normally launch in Q4) to clear the 7k series inventory. for nvidia people expect they will launch their at the end of Q1 or early Q2 but the latest rumor suggesting nvidia might release something at the end of feb based on GK110 chip. not sure it will be next gen part or not initial rumor suggesting it will has 85% of GTX690 performance (while being single gpu only) and some leak suggesting it could be faster than GTX690.

^ This. Waiting dosen't hurt. How'd you be to spend $1000 on a titan, and the 780 releases for ~$600 while only being a little less powerful.

Especially now that we are this close. Just wait and see. The cards arn't going anywhere! :)

there is no faster gpu than titan from nvidia until next die shrink. with gk110 being use in titan most likely gtx780 will be based on gk104 successor (gk114?) if nvidia intends to release 700 series from kepler line up.

other option would be releasing gk110 as 780/770 variant but with DP support being crippled

neither can I. I just wish intel could release their new haswell's at the same time so people can do a all-round upgrade.

Sea Islands (Radeon 8000) is delayed until next year Q1, and the 700 series might be aswell.

Well since the gtx 780 has just come out and I've checked out the benchmarks. I would say if you want the biggest and baddest rig put 2 gtx 780s on sli... Your machine will outdo any graphics card in the market right now...
