And yes I'd like fries with that . Hi, I'm looking for a 30 inch, 16:9, 2560 x 1440 display, with very low refresh (2ms/120Hz preferably), and great contrast, 100,000:1 dynamic+
I currently use a Samsung SyncMaster P2350, beauty of a thing, 50,000:1, 2ms 1080p monitor, but it lacks blacks, size, and now that I have a 670 GTX I want to run a higher resolution, so I think it's 4 years of service are soon to be up.
Money is not much of a factor, I won't spend $2k on a monitor of this size, but say $300-$1.5k, if it ticks all the boxes, I think that would be nice. Not entirely ruling out 27 inch either, but would prefer 30, bigger upgrade from 23.5, hopefully longer lasting too.
It's going to be used with a PS3 and a Gaming PC (670 GTX), so this is why I want a 16:9 display, and it must scale 1080p well, I figure 720p to be a quarter of 1440p, so I'm not too worried about that, but as long as it'll do a good job of scaling 1080p at 1440p, that's the main game, it also means that if it can do it with my graphics card, when it starts tiring, I can return to 1080p for gaming there too.
In case anyone was wondering, I know that it's possible to scale a PS3 at 1080p to a larger monitor, but I believe when I saw it done, it was the monitor doing it, which was a 30 inch Dell 2560 x 1600, and the 16:10 resolution didn't distort the game I tried too much, but would still prefer a 16:9 option. I also don't really get IPS and the other monitor type which name escapes me, I have a feeling the type that 'isn't' IPS has a faster refresh rate? Might be the way to go for gaming?
I also realise this isn't entirely a 'Graphics Card' question, so mods feel free to move this to a more appropriate section if applicable.
