hi,
for some reason, Windows98SE won't start unless i run in step-by-step confirmation mode and not load the Sound Blaster DOS emulation which loads before entering Win98SE. any ideas why this is happening? eventhough i don't run DOS programs, it is bugging me and maybe any commands in Autoexec.bat (cleared it - SB Emu only thing in there - to load Win98SE) might lead to a hang. any thoughts are appreciated.

if you go into safe mode and disable it, no more boot problem. If you want to use it (you may), you should go into BIOS and set PNP OS to NO and reserve IRQ5. This will cause BIOS to configure your cards before boot, except for the devices that are only seen in windows (like DOS emulation), and Windows will likely move that to the now empty IRQ5.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

You can also disable the emulation in Device Manager. Or, select "Enable LPT Interrupt Sharing". That fixed my problems.
