Roaming wireless network with different brands

Is it possible to set up a roaming wireless network with wireless access points that are different brands from one another (i.e., D-Link, Cisco, Belkin, etc.)? If so, is there anything special that needs to be configured?

roaming networking does not really work since the computer will not switch to the stronger signal until the old signal is getting way to weak. There is no software or hardware to change that behavior

you can mix wireless AP and use the same SSID and password

I think AP switching is handled wireless adapter. If your adapter has the technology it will switch before the signal is too low.
