New 3DMark Bench thread

The new 3DMark is set to be released later this evening (02/04/2013 @ 6pm).

I'm sure it'll have the same preset settings. ie: Entry, Performance and Extreme.

We're going to use the Performance setting here that way we'll see a far more compatibility across the board for more people and will have controlled results to compare scores to. I believe there will be three benchmarks, "Fire Strike" for the high-end, "Cloud Gate" for the mid-level and "Ice Storm" for the entry-level.

FIRE STRIKE

Quote:
Fire Strike is our new showcase DirectX 11 benchmark designed for high-performance gaming PCs. It is our most ambitious and technical benchmark ever, featuring real-time graphics rendered with detail and complexity far beyond what is found in other benchmarks and games today. Fire Strike will be available only in the Windows editions of 3DMark initially.

CLOUD GATE

Quote:
Cloud Gate is a new test that is designed for Windows notebooks and typical home PCs. Cloud Gate includes two graphics tests and a physics test. Cloud Gate uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 10 making it suitable for testing DirectX 10 compatible hardware. Cloud Gate will initially be available only in the Windows editions of 3DMark.

ICE STORM

Quote:
Use Ice Storm to test the performance of your smartphone, tablet, ultra-portable notebook or entry level PC. Ice Storm includes two graphics tests focusing on GPU performance and a physics test for measuring CPU performance. On Windows, Ice Storm uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 9. On Android and iOS, Ice Storm uses OpenGL ES 2.0. You can compare scores across platforms.

Tonight at 6pm. I'll include a link when it's available.

But something to get us started:

  3. I look forward to giving this one a go, I do like a good benchie!
  4. I too am looking forward to giving this ago after the upgrades to my main rig and I plan on doing a run with both, should be fun....

That is 6pm eastern time, right russ? Ill be able to post my results ~ 6pm PST.

    Gentlemen, start your engines!

Edit: Might have to do an ice storm run on my samsung s3 if possible!

    **Edit OP to TPU**

Running benches now and Fire Strike is demanding! Post a screenie in a minute.

  6. I wonder if this version will be as sensitive to CPU OC's as the last ones have been?

Not sure but nevertheless would be interesting to find out. I'm stock other than the small bump of 100/200MHZ on the 7950.

In TPU's article they used the GTX 680 but don't mention the CPU used but and I quote:

    Quote:
The physics tests of each of these can benefit from having multiple cores and advanced instruction sets.
  8. I'm DL'ing now (and I was wrong about the time difference!) so prepare to be humiliated by the sheer power of SLi'd 560Ti's and an E8400!

Here's another run on the Ivy Bridge/6990 machine (newer processors are going to see a big improvement in the physics department):

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/3488

The Fire Storm score is low!
  10. No score showing on that one, just specs.

Works for me... but prolly a good thing because the Fire Storm score is LLLLOOOOWWW. Embarrasing low... which is probably a CF issue. Downloaded 13.2 Beta 4 and going to retry.

Anyone else having the issue with link not working?

DLing now... should be able to post results in 30-45 minutes or so (DL is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww)

It's a 1GB file, I can see some having an issue with it.

Sorry mate, you're right it does work I just had to enable Java script. Doh!
  13. Bow down to the awesomeness!

Here's a run with 13.2 Beta 4 drivers and it's it's much better. Funny they are beta but they're approved and 13.1 doesn't work right (atleast for me).

Gotta say... I'm liking this version of 3DMark much, MUCH better than 3DMark11 (which I thought was a bit lame). It looks much nicer and the performance seems to be quite similar.

Anyways, here's my first two open-->run results:

    Firestrike (Normal): 13287
    Firestrike (Extreme): 6911

Will play around with things and post more scores soon. These tests are run with my sig specs except the 7970s are at 1195 core and not 1205

I like it too. The physics test in Fire Storm is cool - with the insect, stingray thingys. Different...

 It had to be done!

The fire thingy demo was just a slideshow for this rig! Though for a six year old motherboard (that's supposed to be dead) and a 3ghz dual core the graphic tests ran quite well I thought.

That's what it was like for me until the driver change. I was like damn, really?

Do you get more than three images in the time it takes to run?

It normally just folds 24/7 so this was just a break from the norm, now back to folding. ;)
  26. My 680's in SLI are not performing properly. My scores dropped a lot once I enable SLI. I don't know if this is a driver issue or the benchmarks. One thing that hurt was in SLI, I'd cap at 184 FPS, when I was getting 1300 FPS with 1 card.

    What driver are you using?
  28. I will have a go with each of my systems at stock speeds and with my OCs. Post back in a few hours.
  29. heh i got problems . . .

lets see if overclocking helps.

I would assume drivers. Have you tried the newest beta?

I was using the latest WHQL drivers, 310.9. I'll be trying the latest beta drivers.

    This is a single 680 score: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6271
(That is with stock clocks on the 680. With SLI, I don't feel a need to OC it.)

My 560's are on the 313.95's (as are the 660's) so I'd say give 'em a go and see if they work for you.

at least it finished this time.

now for the "crysis 2 overclock" settings . . .

    edit: quadro 307.74 drivers :)

That score is nearly identical to TPU's (they use the i7-950 though).

Still can't help but think the scores should be higher (graphics that is).

    Their's:

Well, they improved, but something still isn't right. In past 3dmark tests SLI gives you nearly double the graphics score, on this, it goes up less than 50%.

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14102

The first two barely go up, but I expected that Firestrike was the only valid PC test. Once you go past 200 FPS, and over 1400 FPS, there will be all sorts of bottleneck issues.
  37. I think there is a lot of driver issues with crossfire/sli as of right now. We will probably see optimizations from both AMD and nvidia even for single cards.
  38. Will bench when GPU cooler gets here tomorrow.
  39. i cannot even get my rig to run the 2nd and 3rd test without crashing reporting an error..... no o/c

SLi seems to be working for me.

i had issues until i "disabled" the second monitor on my 550ti and just used the one on my 570 . . .

    885/2000

and with 550ti (physx) overclocked @1050/2400

how did mousemonkey get "valid results?"
  42. SLi seems to be working for me.

I'm sorry MM but that just seems low for 660ti's & 2600K. No?

What do you get if you disable SLI?
  43. im going to try the beta drivers when I get home in a bit and try again, i noticed another odd thing one out of 4 gpu's was boosting the other 3 aren't lol this doesn't happen in any other tool then this new one lol

I don't know, I'm just about to run with my stable CPU OC. I would have thought that a single card would score a lot less though.

I'm too sexy for results, too sexy for the benchie, I'm sooo sexy!
  46. I'm using offset for my cpu overclock of 4.5GHz so ignore my cpu clock in the results. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/16881?

I'm pretty sure both of my cards were being used, I'll post the results with an OC'd CPU in a bit both with dual and single cards.
