Win 7 ASUS Realtek 8111e can't connect to internet

Hello,

About two weeks ago, I took out the old motherboard of my HP computer and put in a new ASUS M4A88T-M. The board is amazing, especially for the money, except that I can't connect to the internet.

So, for the last two weeks I've power-cycled about a billion times, ipconfig /this/that/and the next thing over and over, I've winsocked, I've turned programs on and off and on again, checked that the LAN is enabled in BIOS, firewall is off, and probably a bunch other things from the 100's of google pages I've searched.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my ISP, and the guy was 99% sure there is something wrong with the NIC. Windows says that the device is working correctly, and I think that it is. There must be some setting, some driver, something that will reconnect me to the internet.

Thank you for your reply. It turns out the Express Gate was connecting to the internet but then not disconnecting when I went into the OS. What a mess.
