What graphics card should i get? (7xxx or 6xx Series)

I would like to upgrade my graphics card to something that will be able to run all of the latest/upcoming games on max settings at 60fps. I only have one 1080p monitor and don't plan on using CrossFireX. I would prefer to spend $250 or less.

I was thinking about getting a Radeon HD 7870 card but i don't know which one to pick. I was leaning toward the Gigabyte card but i don't think it will fit in my case.

I don't know anything about nVidia cards other than they are much more expensive but i am willing to give them a chance.

What would be the best card in the $250 range?

Monitor 1920x1080
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Cooler Master Storm Scout
GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+
Cooler Master 700W Extreme Power Plus
Radeon HD 6850 1GB GV-R685OC-1GD
G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866

More about what graphics card 7xxx series
  1. Try to get a 7870 LE, performs almost like a 7950 but for $230.
  2. How do i find 7870 LE cards? I can only find one "PowerColor 7870 MYST.Edition (Tahiti LE)"
  3. That is the 7870 Tahiti LE or the 7870 XT.
  4. ^What randomman said. That's the only card that'll do what you're looking for in your price range.

(It's a 7870 XT, by the way... also known as the 7950 LE.)

That IS the 7870 LE. 7870 LE, Tahiti LE are the same thing. Tahiti is the code name and the 7870 is the series. There are only a couple companies that make the 7870 LE cards. SAPPHIRE, and Powercolor are the only 2 that I can think of ATM. Both are solid cards though SAPPHIRE has a reputation for being the BEST AMD GPU maker. That being said I would go for the SAPPHIRE one IF you can find it.

    EDIT: Find it INSTOCK.
EDIT 2: Yea, 7870 LE, 7870 XT, 7950 LE, (you get the point) are the same cards.
  6. Ahh nvmd, found it at the bottom of the page under features, thank you for your help! :)
