I have an Inspiron 8000 and I'm looking for a way to use it as a CD/MP3 player with my reciever. I want to be able to listen to CDs in 5.1 so I want a card with either an optical output or 6 channel outputs. Since it's a laptop, the card will most likely have to be external. So far, I've found the Extigy by Creative and a Yamaha which is incredibly expensive. The extigy is more in my price range, but a few of the reviews I read on it said that it can't ouput 5.1 via its optical port. Does this mean that it wont put out a DECODED 5.1 signal or it won't output one at all. If it just doesn't decode the signal, that's fine since I can just use the reciever to do that. If anyone has any answers or knows of other similar products, please let me know. Thanks and sorry for the wordy post.

The Extigy is the only one.
Do you really have that many 5.1 CDs?
