Problem with new AMD card and games?

I have been having an issue with my new Gigabyte radeon hd OC 7970. I paired it with a AMD FX-8350. In minecraft I'm getting around 30-40 FPS. AMD system monitor says the cpu is working at around 80% and the gpu around 5% while playing minecraft. I know that it's a CPU based game but paired witha good gpu I know it can pull way better numbers than that. I am also running the latest ATI drivers (13.1). Any help is appreciated, Thankyou!

that is very strange, try look for a multicore support mod i know they have one that should give you a fps boost by a poop load. Minecraft only uses 1 cpu core so sometimes people experience lag but my friend says that mod really helped him....
