Guys, I’m really confusing myself reading all the threads I can find about setting up Eyefinity…
The stars must have aligned or something, because my wife has granted me permission to buy a new video card and 3 new TVs to set up Eyefinity for my racing and flight sims. I’ve been using a single 40” 1080p TV, so I don’t want to downsize, I want 3 40” TV’s. I’ve chosen the one in the following link based on its price. It only has 3 HDMI connections, no DVI input. The video card I have chosen is a 7970, also linked below.
All the guides and threads I have read only mention micro DSP to DVI, and I can’t find anything that says I can use a micro display port adapter to HDMI. So, is there a way to use a micro DSP to HDMI adapter for two of the three TVs? Can you point me in the right direction for the specific adapters I'll need?
Rather than an HDMI to DVI adapter you can also simply get an HDMI to DVI cable.
You may want to confirm that you can use both DVI ports and the HDMI port at the same time on this card. Most 79** series only have 4 plugs, 2x displayport, 1x hdmi and 1x dvi. This one having the extra DVI makes me wonder if it was like the previous generation of cards where one of the HDMI/DVI ports was actually a shared port with two headers meaning you could only use one at a time. This was the reason EyeFinity always required use of one of the displayports.
If this turns out to be the case, all you need is a Displayport adapter (normally they go to DVI) and then from there use an HDMI to DVI cable.
