Slow response/distorted display Dell Inspiron b130

I have a Dell Inspiron B130 having display issues. Everything seems to have a slow response or whenever I open a window it slowly shows up. With multiple windows overlapping each other it seems that the top layer is transparent and I can see the overlapped window behind it.

When I plug in a second monitor it works fine.

This problem started one day when I turned on my computer. The display was fine until windows opened up. After everything was loaded it went back to normal. The next time I restarted my computer the problem started again and the display hasn't worked properly since.

I tried replacing the LCD inverter and the problem still remains. I feel I may have damaged the new inverter when taking it out of its casing.

Does anyone know of any other possibilities for what is causing this problem?
