Zotax gtx 660ti amp edition crashes

Hey guys,
I recently built a new build with following specs;
i5 3570k
z77 sabertooth
corsair ax 850
zotac gtx 660ti amp edition
corsair vengence 8gb ddr3 1600mhz cl10
cooler master storm trooper.
For a first couple of days everything seemed to work fine, but when i play games like borderlands 2 or devil may cry after couple of hours or minutes(random) of gaming my gpu crashes i.e i get no display for 2-4 secs and then it recovers and the game stops responding. I checked with msi afterburner the temps were around 62,but the weird thing was just after the crash the power consumption shot up to 400% which usually is 90-110 % when games are working fine. What could be causing this.? Help is highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Did it say "display driver had stopped responding and has recovered"?

nope nothing like that, but i guess that is the case.
btw i am running win 7 64 bit and gpu drivers are 313.96 beta
had similar problems with other versions but frequency seems to be reduced with the beta drivers.

try reducing the core from oveclocked setting by amp edition to normal settings

Tried that already,still crashes.

Try to underclock it. I got crashed instantly whenever I opened a game and it said "display driver had stopped responding and has recovered". I underclocked my 7950 to only 750mhz and it works perfectly since :D

Then whats the point in buying a factory overclocked card if its needs to be under clocked to work properly. The only solution so far seems to be rma it.
Thanks for help guys.
