If it's a new PC, I'd do one card for now, get everything set up, then add the second card, connect with bridge, extra PSU cable (if needed), then install drivers and restart. You'll then have to go into your GPU manager and enable for your system to utilize multiple GPUs, and that should be it.
Bottom line, one card to start off, configure your system, then add the second card, etc.
