Sli Graphics cards do they have to be the exact same name evrything

Hi i was wondering if i was to get 2 graphics card to combine with sli dose everything need to be identical with the brand name and numbers,as in would a
nvidia geforce 8800 GTS /OC BFG
Work with a
nvidia geforce 8800 GT or a nvidia geforce 9600 gt oc/BFG

You would need another card with the same chip, so you need another 8800gt. It is better to have the same exact card, but it is not mandatory.

Make sure your motherboard and psu support sli.
