I've finally found DDR333 at a local store in Canada near me (The Greater Toronto Area)! Check this out!

What does the AT7 have in special?

Also VIA has already issued a DDR 400 solution chipset??
If so, then when DDR 400 from Kingston is out public, maybe this would show AMD how DDR400 can tremendously boost Athlon, and put it in full competition against NW 533MHZ, especially when it's gonna be a Tbred, ready for more clock speed and bandwidth.

What is the Difference between Each Chipset, what is the Advantage if any going from a Kt266a to the Kt333a, and announced above Kt400a... and DDR333 and DDR400 memory...do you have to OC to actually see enhanced performance.

Damn it, that's the second time an article passes under my nose!
Wow, this CeBIT has really turned out dreams come true! Our predictions are slowly being drifted from fantasy to reality!
DDR400 is definitly the Athlon lover, and will compete RDRAM to destroy Rambus entirely. I do hope VIA's KT400A is worth the "A", as well as AMD licensing it so maybe we could get a taste of P4's medicine: 400MHZ FSB!
This would compete extremly hard on Intel for sure, as we know their bus is not as effective performing as AMD's and that only 533MHZ can really push it. Plus the new FSB will allow lower multipliers on lower speeds, or higher speeds easily for OCing Tbreds.
All in all this is too exciting!
BTW what is this 32bit RDRAM module? Don't they mean 16-bit Dual Channel? If not then what is the new data path bandwidth?
Now it remains for SiS or VIA to take on Intel and put their own DDR400 chipset solutions for P4, and it can then really become a threat to AMD. But then again we think Intel, and Rambus Contract suddenly pops...

Guys im alittle bit confused.
Kt266a with the Pc2100 DDR
Kt333a with the DDR 333 ?
Kt400a with the DDR 400 ?

is this right? how much performance wise is it compared to Pc2100 ddr..and price wise for the DDR400

If all of the above is wrong can you fill in were im lost...

PC2100 = DDR266. Anyway, yeah, you're right. DDR400 is supposedly 20% faster than DDR266.

Check the article out. Shows how this RAM could change the entire way Intel looks at DDR RAM, as well as AMD looking for any FSB and RAM licensing in the future. Notice how RDRAM only wins in the Write test, which is by a little margin of 10% or less.

EDIT: After noting a bit, the performance improvement over DDR 266, is about 20-40%. That is of course with 200MHZ FSB, DDR to 400MHZ, like a P4's. The bare minimum would be 10%, and I estimate that in case of asynchronous FSB and RAM, so 200MHZ FSB*2 is definitly needed to ramp the Athlon up with the DDR400.

when the Kt400 or Kt400a comes out, what will be the best memory choice to get if you aren't going to overclock? Pc2700?

If not overclocking PC2100,2400,2700,3000,3200 would all give the same result as they would all be running at a 133mhz fsb. If run asychronously with the cpu, in which case the performance increase would be minimal and not worth the increased cost of the ram IMO.

When the kt400a is available your best result would come from dropping the multiplier and increasing the fsb to 200mhz to run it synchronously. In which case your still running the cpu at stock mhz but with increased memory bandwidth.

Does Increaseing the Bandwith help that much ? Do you need to do any physical work to Up the Memory and FSB... can that be done all by Bios

Um I'm getting the feeling you're not following what we're writing here...

rob,

think of your cpu as a big pump, connected to by a hose(the memory bandwidth). the cpu can only pump as fast as the hose is suppying it data. by increasing the size of the hose more data can reach the cpu.

hose a - ddr 266 pc2100 2.1gb/s throughput
hose b - ddr 400 pc3200 3.2gb/s throughput

which one is going to fill your swimming pool first?

What a bunch of fudds. Couldn't find a board with a 1/5 divider? How about the Iwill XP333 and the Leadtek 7350KDA? They must've been stuck with the same "V|@ RU3L3Z!!!###" mindset as so many people are

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
