i am under the impression that the abit TH7II motherboard has integrated sound. is this sound card very good? what would be the advantages of getting a sound blaster live and putting it in my pci slot?

repeat after me, we are all individuals!

I was wondering about the same thing... Alot of these Mother boards come with On-Board sound and some say that it's comparible to a SB LIVE... I was wondering if i should get a Pci SoundBoard.. I guess one difference is you get more sound software..

The difference is that the onboard sound uses a lot more of the CPU power, and is generally crappy sound quality.
In other words, most onboard sound sucks as much as the Live.

Now, there is a C-Media 6-channel chip, as well as the nForce sound, both of which are pretty good quality.
