Computer lagging/stuttering problem due to WMP600N?

Hi, For about a year now I got my own build see specs below

PSU: OCZ Modxtream pro 600W
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 LE
CPU: Intel core I5 2500K
Ram: Geil Black dragon 8GB 1333 DDR3
GPU: MSI GeForce 560ti Hawk
Cooler: Cooler Master V8
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
HDD: Samsung 1TB
Wireless card: Linksys WMP600N

For a long time now I have some problems with applications and windows freezen/lagging/stuttering for like seconds. Also the sound stutters. It’s just random and I can’t seem to find the problem. I’m a bit desperate right now that’s why I’m making this post in hope you guys can help me.

Things I already did: Update everything to newest drivers/bios. Also a new windows 7 ultimate install. The only thing I can’t do is manually update the Linksys WMP600N drivers for some reason. Windows is unable to install them. But the windows updater is giving me some drivers which also work. Everything seems to work .

The stuttering still is happening. I think it could be the WMP600N card or my motherboard. I also tried to install the card in another PCI slot which also don’t seem to work. Tried it without the wireless card and everything seems to work normally. Is it just my wireless card being defect or maby some properties cause it’s giving me good signal but it seems it’s interfering with my other hardware.

Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance,

Hello Redmar98. I've been having the EXACT SAME problem for a few weeks now. It wasn't until last night that I became too fed up with it's persistence.

I followed this tutorial: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140263-how-to-get-the-c...
And did what was suggested at the end of this: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/298290-everything-...

But to no avail...

Using DPC Latency Checker, after noticing CPU spikes upwards of 50% in my Task Manager, I was able to narrow the culprit down to NDIS.SYS. When I disable the adapter in my Device Manager, the spikes seem to cease, and at idle, the CPU maintains a usage of about 0-5% (though I know usbport.sys is causing a few problems too >_<)

Minecraft of all things, is now almost impossible to play for any amount of time without the stuttering, and certainly not my other games. (Despite having used to be perfectly capable of running the Witcher 2 on max settings, which I can't even start without hitting stuttering)

So I'm almost 100% certain that the cause, like you, seems to be the Linksys WMP600N adapter.

My Specs:
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 RX 650W
Motherbaord: MSI 870A-G54 (FX)
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4Ghz
Ram: 8GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560Ti
Wireless Card: Linksys WMP600N

Have you fixed your problem yet?
else
What can we do to fix the card?

Like he said, thanks again in advance.

Sounds like either a defective card, or crappy drivers. Since Windows refuses to install the drivers you downloaded manually, I'd lean towards faulty card. Either exchange it for a new one, or trade it for a different wireless card altogether.

Going wired is still a much better option if at all possible with your setup though.

I bought a new card from another brand everything seems to work perfect now, it's either the drivers or the card itself I don't know the exact cause. Anyway I'm so glad I bought a new adapeter

I am also using that card with Win 7 64 bit. The driver I use is from Ralink Technology Corp. and is version 3.2.2.0 and it seems to work perfectly. Don't know if that helps you, hope it does.

Hey guys. I have the exact same thing; lag spikes on my computer. It is like my cpu is being interrupted. A typical lag spike will stop the mouse responding, sounds are distorted, programs lag/stop. These lag spikes last for around 0.2seconds. I could go days without experiencing it, then have an 'attack' of lag spikes for 15mins. I am win7 64bit.

During one of these attacks of spikes, I disable the card linksys WMP600n in device manager and I am perfect again. There is no doubt, it IS the card causing this. I would say that the driver is absolute muck. Anyone reading this, do not buy one of these rubbish cards for win7 64bit.

Like other on here, I wasted so much time updating drivers, trying several different virus scans. Thanks you linksys you bunch of morons.
