well im using a gateway nv59 and got the 5650. seems like u got hardware issues possibly.thats weird, because the drivers provided with the computer work fine, and in device maneger/games/even the auto detect thing from amd says i have 5650 and when i click on download it downloads the files and then says incopatable hardware/software
could it be because i have switchable graphics ?

i did some googling and found out it has something to do with the fact that i have a switchable graphics (intel 4000) and the amd 5650 any info regarding switchable graphics drivers ?

First and foremost, if your system is a laptop, then you do not have a desktop version of the graphics card. Second, oft-times, your laptop manufacturer will use a specifically tweaked version of a mobile graphics card (to allow for variances in heat dissipation, cooling solutions, power consumption, etc...). These "tweaked" versions often require very specific drivers from your laptop manufacturer.
If the mobility drivers from AMD result in the Incompatible Hardware error message, then you should be able to directly download them from your manufacturer (Gateway) based on your laptop model number.
If that fails, then you should probably be looking an uninstall using a driver cleaner like CCleaner and then a re-install of the latest Gateway/Windows 7 Drivers.

Thanks for responding. do you mean a total uninstall of all computer drivers ?
Both drivers from gateway and amd are not working for me, the gateway ones give me an error after the install and the amd ones say incompatible plus the gateway ones are from 2011, which isnt exactly what i am looking for

Thanks for responding. do you mean a total uninstall of all computer drivers ? No. Just uninstall the graphic card drivers. Standard Windows graphic drivers will do until you can get the correct specific drivers installed.

have u considered just reinstalling windows? The OP has already stated that s/he's done this.
Please provide us with the exact model number of your laptop and IceClock or I (any anyone else in the forum) can provide you with either a link or instructions on how to get the correct drivers for your laptop.
Once you have the drivers, try to install them immediately.
If that fails, try to boot your system into safe mode and then try to install the drivers.
If that fails, download and install CCleaner. Boot into safe mode and remove the graphic card drivers only. Reboot again into safe mode and then try to install the drivers.
If that fails, I would try to do another fresh install of Windows and try to install the Gateway downloaded drivers one last time.
If ALL of that fails, perform a system restore to factory defaults.

Gateway VGA driver for ID79C laptop
If you scroll down to the VGA section, you should see a download for "VGA Driver (Radeon HD 5850 /5650/5470/6550M)". This is the driver you need. Yes, it's from August, 2011, but newer drivers direct from AMD are not compatible. As I said, such is the life of laptop owners (of which I am one).
