Santa brought me an LG BH14 Blu-Ray Burner for Christmas. I installed it into my OLD Gateway GM5260 pc and it wouldn't work with the
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE graphics card that came with it. So I went to an electronics store and (based on the associates ASSURANCE that
it would work with my Gateway) purchased a PNY GeForce GT 610 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP ready video card.
Guess what? It didn't work.
I was telling a co-worker about it and during the conversation they said they had a DIY computer kit with no GPU they'd sell for $450.
I asked if the GT610 card I had would work with the kit and they said they didn't know if it would.
I couldn't pass on the price so I bought it. All parts are still sealed in their boxes and consists of the following items:
•ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
•AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6300WMHKBOX
•Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
•G.SKILL Value 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-16GNT
•APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V Power Supply
•APEX PCV-588 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
The OS will be Windows 7 Pro 64Bit and use a Dell ST2220L monitor.
Will the PNY GeForce GT610 card be sufficient to work with this setup? If not, what card will I need? MY budget is $150 MAX.
All I need the card to support is the BH14 Blu-ray player and (sometime down the road maybe) Flight Simulator.
