Is my PSU powerfull enough to run a GTX 660 TI or Radeon HD7950

Hi everybody,

I am looking to upgrade from my integrated card to a single dedicated setup. The two cards I'm currently looking at are the Radeon HD 7950 and the GTX 660 Ti. My problem is that my PSU is a Corsair 430 CX, which does not appear to provide enough power and only has one PCIE connector, where both cards require two.

From what I have found online, opinion seems to be divided as to whether this PSU can handle either of the two cards. Apparently, I could use a molex adapter to provide the extra PCIE connector, however I am still not sure the PSU will be up to the job.

My specs are:

PSU: Corsair 430 CX
CPU: Intel Core i5 3450 3.1 Ghz
RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Vengeance Memory

I am also using a single SATA HD and DVD/RW

Any help appreciated!

  1. No that psu can only handle upto hd 7850.i suggest get corsair cx 500w not take risk.
  2. Even if it will run you don't want push that PSU that hard because it would definately be at it's upper limit. Chances are you would have serious stability issues.
