Ok, this has been an ongoing trial. I've been attempting to install xp professional for some time now. When I first started, it would format/copy files/reboot, then lock up on the loading screen.

With some bios adjustments, i've now got to the windows installer, and have gotten down to the "saving settings" part of the install. It always locks up with 7 minutes remaining. Any ideas? anyone else run into this?

also, my friend had to disable udma on his moms computer to get xp to install...dont know the specs on his moms comp, but it seemed to work...
and my dad's friend was having problems like this...and it turned out he didnt have an ata-66/100 cable, he had an ata-33 cable, and when he swapped it out, his computer worked fine.
