Any way to remove heatsink Gigabyte 7970 Windforce

So i just received my xspc waterblock for my 7970 in the mail and tried to fit it on my Gigabyte 7970 windforce however there is this small aluminum heatsink that prevents it from being seated properly. Is it possible to remove the heatsink? Or am i just going to have to get a reference model card?

Here is a picture of the heatsink that im talking about. I tried to pull it off gently but it wont budge and there are no screws that i can tell that are holding it in

that is where your mos-fet power transisters are mounted...
I would talk to Gigabyte about their board or the water cooler company about this...
I am not sure you should mess with this as your cards power supply can go up in smoke if these mos-fets are not cooled correctly!
