Which one should I get?

Hey there.

My graphics card has become obsolete (Radeon HD 6670), and it's time I buy a new one...
Now, I will be playing mostly World of Warcraft and Borderlands 2. I will also be playing a good amount of Crysis 3 when it comes out.

My current load-out is:
CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.60Ghz
MoBo: Gigabyte M68MT-S2 with a NVIDIA GeForce 7025 chipset / nForce 630a (southbridge)
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6670
PSU: TurboLink 500W-BK 12v

I've narrowed my selection to 2 (at the moment, and am willing to add others to the list.)

Out of those two which do you think will run the best with my PC and the games I'll play?
Thanks in advance for your help, people on this website are really informative and accurate.

More about which
  1. that psu isnt even in my lists of psu from 2012.....those gpu's need good clean power supplies usually with at least 30 amps on the 12 volt rail. can you provide more info about your psu?
  2. I'd get the 660 just because of 2GB of vRAM and also because crysis 3 will use more than 1GB vRAM guarantee with 1920x1080p+... If I were you i'd get a 7850 with 2GB vRAM

Of those two, the 660 is best for your situation, if both are at stock.
The 7850 is an ex OC card tho & could render it better than the 660.

Personally, I would go with the 7850 because it nets to $49 less,

However, If you are looking in the price range of that 660, a more accurate
comparison would be the 7870 as it is in the same range as the 660.
  4. Upgrade your crappy power supply first then decide what the GPU funds left will let you get.

Actually, pop is right. 500w is plenty for those cards.
But, The turbolink 450 tested by Hardware Secrets
could only deliver half its power specs and was described as
a piece of junk that could damage your computer.

Yes, I know... My PSU is a piece of junk. But I haven't seen anything negative come from it in the 8 months of owning it.

LOL - Just wanted to give you a respected review sites
opinion to back up popatim's suggestion.

Occasionally (I've seen it recently) some folks espouse
    personal opinions without checking facts.

pop is obviously not one of those.
  10. I'd get the 660. nice little card........... and from what I've seen it's faster than anything else listed here as yet.
  11. Assuming the right PSU was linked in that review you have to upgrade your PSU. It lacks the video card power cables you'd need to run bigger PSU. Just update it then buy a GPU.

Right. But I don't have what he linked, I have the Turbolink 500w 12v... After doing some research, it appears I will need to buy a new PSU as well
    :fou:
  13. Yeah. Considering how bad the "450W" review was, I doubt the "500W" unit is any better. If they are flat out lying that bad about one I'm sure the rest are bad as well. Thankfully the CX430 and Antec 380Green are cheap and will be ok for those cards.
  14. I second the cx430. Here it is at newegg for 34.99 and free shipping after a $10MIR:

Here's a galaxy gtx660(for physx in BL2 and the 3 free games, if you're into those titles) for 194.99 and free shipping after a $30 MIR at newegg:
