Both are overkill for anything but the highest resolution, multi monitor setups. The 690's will run quieter, cooler, and draw less power, but the 7990's are brute force stronger/faster by a decent margin.

Thanks for that, that will defiently help, but I will be running anywhere from 5 to 7 monitors, getting up to 5780x1080p so I will need high resolution and multi monitor

Also I know that single processor units like the GTX 680 can be quad SLI'd but because there is two processors in both of those cards, that are essentially SLI'd together, can I have four graphics cards or can I only have two?

I'm not familiar with anything more than Quad-SLI on a single rig.

Meaning you could have 2x690 cards, or 2x7990's, or 4x680s. Quad-SLI is counting processors, not cards.

Why not wait till the GTX Titan comes out this month? It's rumored to be 15% faster than a 690 and $100-$200 cheaper.

Because I still don't know the exact specs. And also because it's only rumored.
