Bottleneck ?

Hey guys .

Will the Intel Pentium G860 bottleneck a HD 7870 ?

Or should I just stick with AMD Phenom II X4 965 with a HD 7850 ?

Umm...could you elaborate as to what your options are?

Yes the G860 will probably bottleneck a 7870.
  2. Intel Pentium G860 + HD 7870 or
    Phenom II X4 965 + HD 7850 ?
  3. Tell your max resolution, playing games on online or offline?
  4. What games do you play? What settings do you like/can you tolerate?
  5. @ASHISH65 - Max res is 1366 x 768 . Playing both online and offline .

@jtenorj - Games like GTA 4 , Just Cause 2 , Battlefield 3 , Crysis 2 . I'd love to play at Ultra because I think the HD 7870 can handle that . And if possible , would love to play the upcoming Crysis 3 at mid settings .
  6. Question, how much RAM you got?

Didn't you just make have another thread with a question about your new build? If not, sorry for the mistake.

I doubt the G860 will bottleneck the 7870 considering Tom's recent article of CPU bottlenecks where Don powers a 680 GTX with a group of sub $200 CPUs. The G860 was the baseline performance CPU.

  8. the greater the RAM.....greater you will not encounter a bottleneck....bottleneck is too traffic in one flow. Like squeezing out dried up toothpaste from a toothpaste tube

That wasn't my new build . That was what I was considering until a forumer commented and changed my mind . I need to be 100% certain it won't bottleneck .

Are you sure a RAM has anything to do with bottlenecking ?
  11. Well for 1366*768 hd 7850 is more more more than enough!it will only bottleneck only in cpu intensive games like bf3(multiplayer).overall you be fine.
  12. Why not get i3 3220 + hd 7850.i3 and g860 mostly perform same but i3 has hyperthreating and it will be usefull in games like battlefield 3 and far cry.
