Will a pci express revision 1.1 work in a pci express slot

I'm buying a network adapter for my computer soon and the one I'd like to get uses a PCI express revision 1.1 slot, while my motherboard has only 2 x PCI express 2.0 and 1 x PCI express slots. I am curious whether these two are compatible or not.
