I was going through a pile of old graphics cards and pulled out a HD Radeon 6950. The card was working fine last time I used it in Germany. However, I hadn't used it since I brought it back from over seas.
Simply put whenever I install the card on any PC it start to boot up by going into a high fan mode. I would describe this as being 90% of the fans maximum speeds. It will stay at those maxed fan speeds and will not boot into windows (or at least wont show up on monitors).
I have tried this card on two separate systems and three separate monitors.
Here are the system specs for the primary testing rig:
i5-2500K
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UDH3
Corsair Vengeance 16GB ~ 1600Mhz (4x4)
Gigabyte 660ti OC
Vertex 4 128 SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64c
TX650v2
Other test rig
AMD Phenom 1090T
ASUS EVO MOBO
Corsair Vengeance 12GB ~ 1600Mhz (4x3)
ROG ASUS 5870 (2GB) x2
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64c
1000W Generic
Same symptoms with both rigs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
One thing I have done to the card to try and fix it is re-thermal pasted it. Regrettably it didn't do the trick.
